Under the general direction of the Mental Health Program Manager and EHC Area Operations Director, the Mental Health and SUD Program Coordinator will apply independent analysis and critical thinking to lead and support the management of operational, and clinical oversight of all departments providing behavioral health and programming and substance use disorder. The program coordinator also provides support to providers to ensure optimal schedule and program utilization. Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health Mission : Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special needs emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Works with patients and staff to provide resources and education. Provides coordination of staff, supplies, and schedules to support the overall operation of departments and related programs
- Communicates effectively with patients to ensure appointments are scheduled according to departmental timelines and other needs are met, with special emphasis on reducing barriers related to social drivers of health.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to effectively manage schedules / templates, staff, and services to maximize peak operational efficiency and promote growth and patient access in coordination with EHC Practice Management team.
- Ensures the use of reengineering tools to decrease no show rates, increase capacity utilization, and decrease cycle time are operationalized.
- Collaborates with training of all new associates on initiatives including best practices for patient access and quality tracking.
- Completes the review of performance data and clinical outcomes and prepares reports.
- Utilizes department data to reply to research, grant and other requests within designated timelines.
- In collaboration with the Eskenazi Health Center mental health service line manager, plans and implements employee engagement and mental health service line improvements for the Eskenazi Health Center sites.
- Proactively monitors schedules and prepares needs for upcoming programs, including the creation of orders based on needs and ensuring sites receive all needed supplies.
- Disseminates information, initiatives, and data discussed in leadership meetings to all staff
- Collaborates with department manager, implements and monitors site budget and cost control standards and ensures the mental health service line operates effectively and efficiently within budgetary / financial parameters. Validates the accuracy of all charges and general ledger (GL) assignments.
- Rounds with staff to ensure schedule templates, group planning, and other patient access needs are implemented as directed by leadership.
- Supports the technology needed for successful telehealth integration in the department.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, social work, mental health or health care field. A minimum of three years of healthcare, leadership or mental health experience may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor’s degree educational requirements.At least three years of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting is preferred.Bilingual in English / Spanish preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
