Job Summary
Child Nutrition Services Assistant I, under the direction of the CNS Assistant III, must be able to prepare food, do routine tasks, serve food, clean foodservice equipment and food service areas, and do other related tasks as required.
Must be able to read and understand the following :
- Standard recipes and recipe directions
- Weight measurement of food and ingredients
- Food safety
- Serving temperatures of all foods
- Proper procedure for the handling of leftovers
- Proper procedure for cleaning and operating the following : meat slicer, mixing machine, steam kettle ovens, and vegetable cutter
- General mathematics :

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Child Nutrition Services Assistant I under the direction of the CNS Assistant III must be able to prepare food, do routine tasks, serve food, clean food service equipment and food service areas, and to do other related tasks as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
May perform any combination of the following :
Help prepare, serve, sell meals and snacks, and stock inventoryClean the following : pots and pans, work tables, serving lines, salad bar, surrounding area, sweep / mop floor and take out trashSell and inventory all items that are soldStand for long periods of timeCarry out simple oral and written instructionsMaintain a cooperative working relationship with students, staff, and co-workersMay be required to perform general clerical duties - run register and make changeEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION :
Have background in serving and preparing foodDemonstrates dependability and reliability regarding work ethicsHigh school diploma or equivalentOffer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of pre-placement medical examination, including drug testing, and fingerprint clearanceHave good personal hygiene and maintain a clean appearanceFree of communicable diseasesQualify and secure a food handler's health certificateMay be required to maintain a current California driver's licenseKNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES :

This is a 3.9 hour / day, 5 day / week position on the 10-month employee calendar.
