What You Will Do

As a key contributor to our cutting-edge engine validation testing, you'll develop software that monitors, controls, and reports on the performance of commercial and military jet engines. Your work will directly impact the safety and reliability of engines used by airlines around the world. This is a rare opportunity to not only code but also witness live engine tests firsthand, shaping the technology that keeps the world flying.

  • Maintain and enhance existing software used in jet engine validation testing.
  • Develop new automation features to improve test accuracy, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot software and hardware issues during engine testing.
  • Use your Computer Science and engineering skills to analyze and solve complex problems related to engine behavior and control.
  • Based on business needs, the incumbent may need to support other duties / functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 5%.

What You Will Learn

  • The technology, people, and company efforts to successfully test and sell commercial and military jet engines.
  • In depth knowledge of software and hardware providing data acquisition capabilities to support our core mission.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems / tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

    Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 2 years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree in STEM with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience communicating clear and effective messages to a broad audience.
  • Work experience in software engineering fields.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with : C / C++, python, shell scripting.
  • Experience with real-time programming and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with Data Acquisition concepts.

  • Development Operations provides services to support future products for global commercial airlines, industrial partners and military customers. Services include Assembly, Instrumentation and Test of engines and rigs and the associated facilities, hardware, data systems, software and technology to support this. Development Operations delivers our services in a safe, efficient and sustainable environment.
  • What Is My Role Type : In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We've introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is :

  • Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
  • The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education / training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and / or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and / or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
