Our client is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager II to lead the Med / Surg Oncology unit in Clackamas, OR. This leadership role is responsible for driving excellence in patient care delivery, staff development, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance within a 24 / 7 hospital environment. The ideal candidate is a skilled nurse leader with a strong background in acute care operations, staff engagement, and evidence-based practice.
Position Type : (24 / 7 operational responsibility).
Leadership & Staff Development
Lead and mentor nursing staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
Provide coaching, feedback, and succession planning to support team development.
Hire, train, and evaluate staff performance, setting clear expectations and promoting continuous learning.
Operations & Patient Care Management
Oversee daily operations of Med / Surg Oncology units to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Implement best practice models, patient care delivery systems, and nursing practice standards.
Collaborate with physicians, external providers, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Manage resource allocation, staffing, and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage.
Support emergency preparedness planning and staff training.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards (e.g., Nursing Practice Act, Joint Commission).
Drive initiatives to improve quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
Lead continuous survey readiness, audits, and risk management activities.
Financial & Strategic Management
Develop and monitor department budgets, payroll, and cost-containment strategies.
Contribute to organizational strategy by identifying process improvements and implementing cross-functional initiatives.
Align departmental goals with hospital-wide objectives for quality, affordability, and efficiency.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
Minimum 5 years of experience in patient care delivery.
Minimum 5 years of experience in business operations, clinical healthcare, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of leadership experience (with or without direct reports).
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon (required at hire).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required at hire).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Patient safety and nursing principles.
Emergency preparedness and evidence-based medicine.
Change management and business process improvement.
Quality standards, compliance, and confidentiality in healthcare.
Workforce planning and conflict resolution.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare information systems.
