Description : Security Engineer

Job Summary

B&A is skilled and certified Security Engineer to support cybersecurity and information assurance efforts for large-scale DoD Health IT systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing security architectures, performing risk assessments, and supporting compliance activities such as Authority-to-Operate (ATO) processes. This role requires hands-on expertise in security scanning and remediation, as well as a strong understanding of automated enterprise content management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement security architecture for large DoD Health IT systems.
  • Support cybersecurity activities including ATO submissions, annual reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Perform security scans using industry-standard tools and remediate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into system development lifecycles.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting for security controls and assessments.
  • Provide guidance on secure system configurations and best practices.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Health IT and automated enterprise content management systems.
  • Required Skills

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification.
  • Proven experience developing security architecture for large DoD systems.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting cybersecurity compliance activities (ATO, annual reviews, risk assessments).
  • Hands-on experience performing and remediating security scans.
  • Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST SP 800-53).
  • Experience with tools such as Nessus, ACAS, or similar vulnerability scanning platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Security Clearance

  • Eligible to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
