Human Resources (HR) Generalist

Location : New Haven, CT (Hybrid – Full-Time)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic HR Generalist to join our growing team. This hybrid full-time role is based in our New Haven, Connecticut facility and supports several key HR functions, including talent acquisition, training and accreditations, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management , while ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, small company environment , is adaptable, and possesses exceptional communication, organization, discretion, and problem-solving skills .

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle recruiting : job postings, phone screenings, interviews, candidate feedback, job offers, and job description updates

Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes

Develop training materials and track employee training, certifications, and accreditations

Schedule and coordinate company training sessions

Administer employee benefits programs in partnership with our PEO vendor; serve as point of contact for benefits-related inquiries

Support employee relations by helping resolve workplace conflicts discreetly and empathetically, ensuring compliance with employment laws

Train managers on employee coaching and development

Collaborate with HR leadership on performance management , including evaluations and feedback tools

Partner with PEO vendor on leave of absence management

Assist in developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment regulations

Drive employee engagement initiatives to promote retention and morale

Foster a positive workplace culture and build strong employee relationships

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Minimum 3+ years of HR experience

Experience in small companies preferred; experience with geographically diverse teams a plus

Ability to collaborate with senior and executive-level leadership

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution , and rapport-building abilities

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate

Strict confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive matters

Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , especially Excel
