Job Summary
Provide safe and effective workout routines for Wellness Center clients.
Enforce all policies of the Wellness Center : ensure clients conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Report all problems to the Facility Supervisor
Personal Trainers are responsible for providing customer service and enforcement of the facilities policies and procedures.
Personal Trainers will also be responsible for performing Fitness Assessments, New Member Facility Orientations, and Program Developments for clients.
Typical Responsibilities
Performing Fitness Assessments to all prospective clients and on request of client
Meet with clients and perform quality program developments for customers as needed
Assist in the enforcement of Wellness Center policy and procedures specifically in the Weight Room and Fitness Center
Assist in handling all emergency situations as needed
Assisting with all areas of promotions of the Personal Training program (may include programs and sessions outside of the Wellness Center)
Intervene in disputes and actions of unsafe behavior
Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor
Assist in educating all users of the Weight Room and Wellness Center safe techniques and proper lifting form (or as requested by patrons)
Daily checks of equipment to ensure proper function and safety
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Satisfactory completion of staff training provided by the Wellness Center Staff
Must be able to work well as a team player and independently.
Must demonstrate quality customer service skills.
Must obtain CPR / AED certification within one month of employment.
Must obtain a current National Fitness Certification ACE, AFAA, NETA, ACSM, etc.) within 3 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications
Exercise Science Major
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking ability
Preference given to students who have previous work experience or course work in Health and Human Performance or Exercise Science and previous experience in personal training.
