Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to oversee field construction activities on large-scale industrial projects. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and efficient execution of mechanical work while coordinating crews, subcontractors, and project resources.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Oversight
- Supervise daily field activities including safety, productivity, materials, equipment, and schedule performance.
- Oversee mechanical scopes of work such as :
- Piping (carbon, stainless, alloy)
- Structural steel
- Rotating & stationary equipment
- Rigging
- Welding (piping & structural)
- Insulation & heat tracing
- Hydrostatic testing
- NDE
- Fire protection
- Coatings
Subcontractor & Client Coordination
Direct and coordinate subcontractors to ensure compliance with scope and contractual requirements.Track progress based on installed quantities and work hours.Build and maintain strong communication with field teams and stakeholders.Planning & Documentation
Review safety documents (PTAs, TSOs) and ensure adherence.Complete daily reports and maintain photo documentation.Review subcontractor look-aheads; identify and resolve scheduling concerns.Prepare as-built drawings and respond to RFIs with team support.Manage scope changes and field change orders.Quality & Compliance
Verify material deliveries and ensure proper storage.Coordinate with QA / QC for welder qualifications and inspection activities.Witness equipment setting / alignment and support hydrotest walkdowns.Develop and close punch lists.Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and specifications.Procurement & Resources
Submit purchase requisitions and field design change requests under leadership direction.Oversee site material, tools, and craft labor support.General Requirements
Ability to read and interpret isometrics, structural drawings, and P&IDs.Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive jobsite.Previous experience in mechanical, industrial, or power construction supervision required.
