Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to oversee field construction activities on large-scale industrial projects. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and efficient execution of mechanical work while coordinating crews, subcontractors, and project resources.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Oversight

  • Supervise daily field activities including safety, productivity, materials, equipment, and schedule performance.
  • Oversee mechanical scopes of work such as :
  • Piping (carbon, stainless, alloy)
  • Structural steel
  • Rotating & stationary equipment
  • Rigging
  • Welding (piping & structural)
  • Insulation & heat tracing
  • Hydrostatic testing
  • NDE
  • Fire protection
  • Coatings

Subcontractor & Client Coordination

  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors to ensure compliance with scope and contractual requirements.
  • Track progress based on installed quantities and work hours.
  • Build and maintain strong communication with field teams and stakeholders.

    • Planning & Documentation

  • Review safety documents (PTAs, TSOs) and ensure adherence.
  • Complete daily reports and maintain photo documentation.
  • Review subcontractor look-aheads; identify and resolve scheduling concerns.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and respond to RFIs with team support.
  • Manage scope changes and field change orders.

    • Quality & Compliance

  • Verify material deliveries and ensure proper storage.
  • Coordinate with QA / QC for welder qualifications and inspection activities.
  • Witness equipment setting / alignment and support hydrotest walkdowns.
  • Develop and close punch lists.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and specifications.

    • Procurement & Resources

  • Submit purchase requisitions and field design change requests under leadership direction.
  • Oversee site material, tools, and craft labor support.

    • General Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret isometrics, structural drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive jobsite.
  • Previous experience in mechanical, industrial, or power construction supervision required.
