Position : Automation Service Specialist

Shift : Day Shift

Compensation : $35-$55 / Hour DOE

Position Overview :

MMS is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Automation Service Specialist to support field operations and service for a wide range of industrial robots and automation systems. This position is ideal for individuals with hands-on technical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for working in dynamic manufacturing and industrial environments.

The Automation Service Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of advanced automation systems at customer sites. This position requires travel for both scheduled maintenance and emergency service calls and includes direct interaction with customer personnel and internal engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide on-site service, troubleshooting, and repair for industrial robots from major manufacturers (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa / Motoman, UR, Kawasaki, etc.).
  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and system optimization to ensure peak operational performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues in automation equipment.
  • Install, commission, and integrate new robotic systems and automation components.
  • Collaborate with engineering, plant maintenance, and production teams to modify or upgrade systems for improved performance.
  • Document service work, repairs, and recommendations in detailed reports.
  • Train customer personnel on operation, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of robotics safety standards and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Travel to customer sites for scheduled and emergency service calls
  • Requirements : Qualifications :

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in robotics, automation, mechatronics, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience servicing multiple brands of industrial robots.
  • Strong understanding of robot programming (teach pendant and offline programming) for multiple platforms.
  • Proficient in reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and control systems (Ethernet / IP, ProfiNet, DeviceNet, PLCs, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) setup and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with vision systems and sensors.
  • Welding robot experience (if applicable to industry).
  • OSHA, NFPA, or equivalent safety certifications.
  • Work Environment :

    This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to customer locations, including manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and industrial plants.
