A precision manufacturing company serving the aerospace industry is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. Reporting directly to the CEO, this Director-level role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, safeguarding company assets, and maintaining compliance with US GAAP. The Controller will lead budgeting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and audit preparation, while managing the accounting team and fostering strong cross-departmental collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee general accounting functions, including cost accounting, cash management and forecasting, financial reporting, and balance sheet management
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Lead the budgeting process, working closely with internal stakeholders to align financial plans with operational goals
  • Prepare and present regular management reports with actionable insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Produce income statements, monitor financial transactions, and ensure timely and accurate data entry into accounting systems
  • Maintain compliance with US GAAP and company policies, including monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
  • Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring readiness and accuracy of records
  • Manage federal, state, and local reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Oversee inventory accounting for finished goods, raw materials, work-in-progress, tooling, and fixed assets
  • Evaluate inventory values and ensure proper cost roll-up processes
  • Conduct cost and product costing analyses as needed
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Manage and maintain banking relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)Minimum 5 years of combined accounting, cost accounting, and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
  • Experience in a discrete manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficiency with integrated ERP systems (experience with Plex software a plus)
  • Strong budgeting and financial planning skills
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and month-end / year-end close processes
  • Aerospace industry experience preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across all departments and functions
