Position Summary :
The Field Engineer will assist the Project Manager with the day-to-day construction, technical and administrative aspects of assigned construction projects. Field engineer will assist Project Manager & Supt in field work support role, including but not limited to estimating, procurement, report preparation, and overall support in every aspect of each project.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Responsible for oversight of subcontractors when applicable. This may include resolution of jobsite issues and situations as they arise. Supervision includes use of discretion and independent judgement when dealing with discrepancies and matter of significance on the job.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions :
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.
Perform project startup
Comprehension of construction plans and specifications for assigned projectReview of Owner Contract for project specific requirementsDistribute drawings to subcontractor for pricing / Contract Award Review Project Specifications for submittal requirementsSet up an initial master document set of drawings in construction management (CM) softwareUnderstand and perform document control procedures in accordance with KBE policy and proceduresCoordinate all information and documents for project kick-off meeting. Compile all necessary project information and documents required for project start-upMaintain Contract Drawings
Maintain & update construction drawings and document logsPost A / E Sketches & Addendum and incorporate revisions into master document set in CM SoftwareReview as-built drawings for compliance and accuracy prior to making monthly subcontractor payments / review identified issues to the Project ManagerEnsure As-Built documents are maintained by Superintendent and subcontractorsCompile and process RFIs
Research and discuss RFIs with SuperintendentDraft, compile, and distribute RFIs via CM software. Ensure timely follow-up on responsesEnter into Construction Management Software and follow through on responsesTrack for possible cost and schedule impactMaintain RFI logs and post to CM SoftwareProcess Owner Contract Revisions, Change Proposals and Change Orders
Review all incoming changes and identify as Potential Change Order (PCO)Distribute for pricing / estimate, as applicable. Maintain PCO logEnsure follow-up on pricing from vendorsCompile data and distribute Change Proposals / Orders to appropriate partiesRevise Change Proposals / Requests as applicable and as a priorityReview changes with Project Team as applicable and as a priorityUpdate Change Proposal / Order Logs and review them at weekly subcontractor meetingsFlag outstanding Change Orders to PM that may impact timeline or when response is delayed from ownerMaintain all related logs for review at meetingsPrepare Owner project status reportsProcess submittals
Review Submittals for accuracy and compliance with Specifications. Consult Superintendent for all issues that need clarificationFollow up with Subcontractors and Design Team members for timely submission of Submittals. Make team aware of delinquent submittalsPrepare and update Submittal Log on weekly basisStamp, initial, package and distribute submittals to and from all partiesTrack / enter Submittals to and from field, Architect, consultants and subcontractorsObtain information and Submittal approvals required from Owner, Architect, and engineering consultants for timely processingPrepare / updated Submittal LogName and file all submittals electronically per proceduresProcess subcontract change orders
Review all incoming changes for conformity / validity and create PCO as requiredCompile data and distribute Subcontractor Change Orders for digital signaturePerform various administrative and Project Manager assigned tasks
Coordinate and schedule meetings as directed. Prepare and print all reports necessary for meetingsReview awarded subcontracts, assist with daily reports and prepare project meeting minutesReview Job Status Report and follow up with any non-compliance itemsEnter subcontractor contact information for Project DirectoryDistribute Project Schedules as requiredCompose project related correspondence as required or requested by the Project Manager or SuperintendentCreate and maintain subcontractors close out complianceProvide supplemental site supervision as needed on projectQuality Assurance / Quality Control and Safety
Conduct QC / QC inspection and verify work installation compliance with Contract Documents and shop drawingsVerify use of specified materials & equipment and compliance with SubmittalsAssist with the implementation of Safety best practices and compliance with KBE Safety protocolIdentity and report potential Safety hazards when encounteredEducation, Experience, & Qualifications :

BS in Construction Management or Engineering Technology with 0-3 years of building construction experience
Or 2+ years of administrative construction industry experience
Or 2+ years of core construction industry course work beyond secondary school.
Basic understanding of construction principles and practices
Exposure to Construction Management and Scheduling Software, and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook Project), and Bluebeam programs
Experience with Autodesk, REVIT, and LEED is beneficial
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proven skills and ability in organization, time management, flexibility, sense of urgency, professionalism with both clients and co-workers, and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills required for interaction with subcontractors, venders, Architects, Engineers, and
Clients
