Job Business Analyst 2 Candidate Location Requirements : Hybrid (Tues-Thurs in Office) Location Puget Sound area

Responsibilities

  • Acquire data, develop, and maintain Excel based databases / data collection systems.
  • Monitor performance and quality control to identify efficiencies and improvements.
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans within the Business Team
  • Monitor and maintain accurate financial records and status of partners to facilitate effective financial management, invoicing, and reporting

Qualifications / Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and competency in MS Word and Outlook
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Crucial Projects / Areas of Need

  • Royalty Payment Data Validation (Quarterly)
  • 3P Platform Partner Revenue Statements (Weekly)
  • Calculate Mobile Accruals for Month End Process (ROB)
  • Typical Day in the Role

    Purpose of the Team : Making sure that from a gaming side at Mojang that we are paying all our Minecraft partners correctly and that we are receiving all of our retail's orders correctly.

    Key projects : There is a whole royalty tracker that this role is responsible for, it is not necessarily a single project that the vendor will be working on.

    Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm : 50% independent work where they are going through receiving statements for an actual revenue or our unit sales and our right revenue statements that were receiving from our Sony Nintendo Partners. And the other 30% we will be updating various documents to make sure that we are processing our royalties due from Disney or Universal. 20% meeting with the business analytics specialist, she will be responsible for training them.

    What makes this role interesting? You are working on not only the largest game at Xbox, but Minecraft is at this point the number one selling game in the history of video games. Unique Selling Points : We are across many different platforms, and we work with variety of licenses and licensors, this person will have the opportunity to work on a business that is probably one of the most interesting and complex business we have in gaming. Also, the business is being uses to figure out how to approach a multi-platform strategy, which is really important now that we have Activision Blizzard King joining the fold at Xbox.

    Candidate Requirements

    Years of Experience Required : 2-4 years of experience.

    Degrees or certifications required : A bachelor's in business management, finance or accounting.

    Disqualifiers : If they have never work in a role with royalty reporting, it will be a concern but not necessary a deal breaker.

    Best vs. Average

    Someone that has a strong baseline understanding of business and finance. And that have spent 2-4 years in business operations and finance in the entertainment company.

    Performance Indicators

    Performance will be assessed based on Quality of work and deadlines.

    Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience

  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience with Month and reconciliation in the finance side
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience actual financial analysis, from actual revenue to financial reports and reconciliation, being able to determine accuracy determine any kind of red flags or any discrepancies that need to be thrown over to myself or the business analytics specialist.
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience with Attention to details and communication skills we somebody that is able to enable follow process very closely and accurately.

    Mojang is looking for a Financial and Business Analyst to support the Minecraft Business Team and help us shape the future of the Minecraft franchise. As a Business Analyst for the Minecraft Business Team, you will be responsible for processing and analyzing the financial performance of the Minecraft franchise across Console, Mobile, PC, and new platforms. By ensuring accurate revenue reporting, you will contribute to the success of our internal and external partners, and drive impact through informed decision-making across the franchise.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile revenue statements from the Minecraft Console, Mobile and PC businesses, spanning financials and user engagement
  • Contribute to monthly close processes by taking ownership of tasks such as creating journal entries, accruals, and variance reporting, adhering strictly to GAAP accounting principles
  • Create reports and manage processes for royalty statements and payments to partners
  • Aid Business Managers with ad hoc sales performance report creation and data validation
  • Support Business Analytics Specialist with rhythm of business reporting and reconciliation
  • Audit financial processes and recommend improvements to the team
  • Document existing and new business operations processes
  • Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in business operations and financial analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, accounting or relevant field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong financial background and understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Attention to detail and accuracy along with excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills
  • Track record of strong collaboration across teams
  • Passion for gaming and entertainment preferred
