Join the US Army Corps of Engineers as a Seasonal Lock and Dam Operator!

Position Title : Lock and Dam Operator (WY-5426-05)

Promotion Potential : WY-5426-08

Salary : $26.25 - $36.41 per hour

Appointment Type : Permanent, Seasonal

Work Schedule : Full-time

Location : Lock and Dam 2, Hastings, MN

Are you ready to make a difference? The Lock and Dam Project Office at Lock and Dam 3 is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Lock and Dam Operators. This is your chance to work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the smooth operation of critical infrastructure while enjoying a rewarding career with promotion potential.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist pilots in maneuvering craft into position using bow or stern lines.
  • Operate electrical gate controls, valves, and dam gates.
  • Perform maintenance tasks on lock and dam machinery, including carpentry and plumbing.
  • Conduct groundskeeping and janitorial duties.
  • Ensure safety and efficiency in all operations.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Ability to perform duties without more than normal supervision.
  • Knowledge of equipment, machinery, and technical practices.
  • Dexterity, safety awareness, and ability to interpret instructions.

    • Conditions of Employment :

  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Pre-employment physical examination mandatory.
  • Random drug testing under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical effort and outdoor work in varying weather conditions required.
