SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Accounts Payable Specialist serves as the primary technical expert for the Accounts Payable (AP) team, supporting multiple production facilities. This role oversees complex AP processes, assists with month-end close activities, and provides advanced support to Accounting Management. While not responsible for supervising personnel, this position complements the Accounting Manager by leading key AP processes that require advanced technical skills and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Process vendor invoices daily with accuracy and timeliness.
- Review, code, and process complex or non-standard invoices and statements requiring general ledger knowledge.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with vendor reconciliations and ensure timely vendor payments.
- Track, reconcile, and report expenses by vendor, category, or facility as needed.
- Prepare and process vouchers for debt-related transactions in line with amortization schedules.
- Execute online payments as directed by Treasury.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with documentation and support for financial, regulatory, and bank audits.
- Maintain compliance with FPL's accounting policies and procedures, ensuring adherence across AP activities.
EDUCATION :
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.7-10 years of experience in Accounts Payable, preferably within the manufacturing industry.EXPERIENCE :
7-10 years of experience in Accounts Payable operations.7-10 years of experience working with accounting systems, processes, and procedures.SPECIAL SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, & QUALIFICATIONS :
Demonstrated leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills.Excellent written and verbal communication, with a focus on customer service.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS : None.
