Unit Overview :
Join our dynamic 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, where you will care for a diverse patient population, including those undergoing :
Post-operative procedures such as craniotomies, AVMs, and tumor resectionsSpinal surgeries (cervical, thoracic, lumbar)Patients in our Comprehensive Stroke Program for both hemorrhagic and ischemic strokesA high volume of medical overflow casesAs part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), you will gain exposure to groundbreaking neurosurgical techniques and advanced care.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalized patient care and involve patients and families in the process.Anticipate and address significant changes in patients' conditions, collaborating with care teams appropriately.Ensure patient safety and support education tailored to patient and family needs.Lead discharge planning with a holistic, team-based approach.Evaluate unit outcomes and drive shared governance initiatives to enhance quality.Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills among team members.Proactively identify safety risks and implement corrective measures.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities.Demonstrate the ability to deliver age-appropriate care with a deep understanding of pediatric to geriatric needs.Requirements :
Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Completion of an accredited Nursing program.Approximately 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Skills :
Ability to deliver holistic patient care and respond with confidence and flexibility in dynamic situations.Strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic records.Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.Aptitude for independent decision-making and problem-solving.Effective time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.Team collaboration skills and ability to delegate as necessary.Physical Requirements :
Ability to frequently stand, walk, lift, bend and reach.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and carry 40 lbs a reasonable distance.Push / pull with 30 lbs of force and perform sliding transfers with assistance.May be exposed to hazardous materials; protective equipment will be provided.Must have clear vision, hearing, and manual dexterity for clinical tasks.This job description outlines general responsibilities and expectations for the position and may involve additional duties as needed.
