Position Summary
MAG Aerospace is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer to support modernization efforts on-site at our lab facility in Augusta, GA.
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the information technology systems for our government customer. In this role, you will integrate hardware and software in a virtual environment to deploy a multi-function communication system, configuration and troubleshooting of systems.
This role is contingent upon award and part of a surge support effort, intended for the augmentation of existing personnel in response to increased mission demand. Work is anticipated for October 2025
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform the duties as the Systems Engineer, providing direction and tasks to other engineers and technicians on system testing, integration, and configuration of multiple platforms.
- Implements the features and changes required for each quarter of the Post Deployment Software Support (PDSS) Development Cycle
- Work with and tests equipment and software from multiple vendors :
VMWare ESXi, Microsoft Windows and Office Products
RedHat Linux, Oracle KVM, Palo Alto Firewalls and PanoramaPacStar IQCore Server and Client, REDCOM SigmaCISCO Virtual Routers and physical switchesDTECH M3X and SRVR5Themis XR-6, PowerShell and WiresharkProvide an evaluation of software / hardware versions and updates in terms of capability and network / system impact to determine its interoperability with the existing systems and softwareImplement the lab network architecture and connectivityUpdate the lab design and networks quarterly to match the Army's fielded systems for PDSS software testing and evaluationGather Activity Reports from the Network Technicians, to consolidate and send to the Senior Systems Engineer LeadGather bugs during the testing of software deployment and provide them to the Senior Systems Engineer Lead. Assigns them to technicians for testing and validationImplement diverse networking technology and protocols, including :H.323, G.711, G.729 for voice networking
OSPF routingMGRE tunnel routing and Layer 3 switchingImplement and utilize VMware ESXI and Oracle KVM to manage virtual machines running a virtual environment, Performance Enhancement Proxy, QOS Edge Device, Windows Server for Active Directory, Palo Alto Firewall, Palo Alto PanoramaSupport, test and evaluate new technologies and perform systems engineering work to determine integration effort, viability, and performanceWork with Senior Systems Lead Engineer to provide requirements for PDSS Software Development, to implement preliminary and detailed design of systems, to include risk identification, analysis and mitigationRequirements
Minimum Requirements
In-depth hands-on experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds, PACSTAR IQ-Core, Wireshark and other network tools)In-depth experience with routing protocols to include, but not limited to, TCP-IP, UDP, OSPF, OSPFv3, VRF, ICMPIn-depth knowledge of Switching Architecture (VLANs, STP, Port Security, Layer 3)In-depth experience and understanding of multiple network products and operating systems (e.g. Juniper JUNOS and vSRX, Cisco catalysts switches, CSR 8k virtual router, ISR / ASR series routers, IOS XE, NX-OS, Palo Alto firewalls and PAN-OS)In-depth knowledge of Virtual EnvironmentsAbility to transition seamlessly between different Program of RecordsSolid understanding of Active Directory and TPKIAbility to test and configure new products with minimal to no instructions or supervisionREDCOM Data, voice, video, telephony integration experienceIn depth experience of Virtual Environments, to include Hyper V, ESXi, Oracle KVM, and vSphereAbility to troubleshooting systems using the OSI Model as well as other IT industry accepted methodsAbility to work independently as well as with a teamOrganizational and mentoring skills10+ years of experience with network and software-based systems and 5+ years working with relevant Army network systemsEducation

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $135,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
