FOOD SERVICES ASSISTANT PROGRAM COORDINATOR
OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT
REPORTS TO : Food Services Program Coordinator
SUPERVISES : Assists in the supervision of Food Service Workers in conjunction with site Principals and Directors.
PRIMARY FUNCTION :
The Food Services Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of meal programs initiatives in CREC sites, and ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations of the National School Lunch Program for all programs.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assists in the management of food service operations in all CREC sites.
- Assists in the monitoring / evaluation of personnel and program activities.
- Assist in menu planning, review and as needed
- Conducts visits to CREC schools and programs for purposes of information gathering as well occasionally substituting for key personnel.
- Provides timely feedback to CREC staff with questions / concerns.
- Assists in the completion of all mandated reports.
- Assists with the annual On-site Monitoring requirements under all funding sources as well as On-site Monitoring and reviews of Food Service Management Contract
- Completes and submits the annual Sponsor Agreement Application, Public Release, and Summer Program Site Information sheets for NSLP & CACFP
- Helps prepare and distribute parent notification letters for each site.
- Reviews all Self-Operating (Self-Op) invoices and monthly statements, as appropriate, for all contracted food service vendors, and reconciles with site staff as needed.
- Assists with the Administrative Review auditing process performed by SDE.
- Works with Business Services to ensure that all revenue associated with Food Services is accurately distributed to each program / school.
- Reviews monthly meal counts submitted from on-site coordinators for reimbursement by SDE.
- Assists with completing and submitting monthly reimbursement claims.
- Assists in the supervision of NSLP activities and meal payment collections with each program’s / school’s assigned on-site coordinator for the NSLP.
- Attends any relevant SDE workshops / training sessions as needed.
- Performs other related duties from time to time as may be assigned by the Food Services Program Coordinator.
SELF OPERATED SITES TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
SUPERVISES : Food Service staff working within self-operated kitchens.

Oversee daily breakfast and lunch meal preparationMenu planning and developmentSupervising and making up daily work schedules as well as handling vacancies and call outsAssisting in meal preparation and serving, as neededMaintaining accountability related to kitchen operations, number of meals served and other required recordsMonitor kitchen waste, food and supply inventoriesAssists in ordering supplies, menu components and USDA CommoditiesAny additional duties as determined by Food Service Program CoordinatorSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
Associate Degree in Food Service Management, Institutional Management or related field. Bachelors Degree preferred.A minimum of 2 years of Food Service Management or related management experience, preferable school related.Evidence of the ability to work independently and effectively in a large K-12 school district.Experience with and knowledge of Widows / MS Office / Web-based softwareValid Connecticut drivers license and means of own transportationMinimum of 2 years’ experience as supervisor or relevant role desiredCERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Food Protection Certification Program (Qualified Food Operator) preferred
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Grid / Schedule : Monday-Friday; 12-month work year.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :
Travel between schools, central offices, off site meeting locations within the State

Ability to stand for long hours on feetAbility to lift up to 50 poundsEVALUATION :
Annually, by the Food Services Program Coordinator
