The Meaningful Experiences Program Manager (MEPM) plays a key leadership role in the daily operations and program delivery for our residents with dementia within the Memory Care Unit and in the Assisted Living.
This position provides oversight and guidance to staff to ensure the activation of the Meaningful Experiences Specialty Program and quality of life for residents, while serving as a key liaison between families, staff, and administration.
The MEPM is responsible for behavior management support, documentation, staff training, and regulatory compliance—all aligned with our mission to provide compassionate and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities :
- Direct, support, and serve as the leader and role model for all staff in executing resident-centered Meaningful Experiences and supportive programming and engagement activities.
- Continue the development and implementation of engaging, innovative, and evidence-based dementia care activities that promote well-being.
- In collaboration with the on-line educational system and established orientation processes, train new and existing staff on memory care best practices, Meaningful Experiences Specialty Program, and person-centered behavior intervention, and engagement techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across all shifts to develop and implement individualized routines and mental health / behavioral interventions.
- Oversee and generate documentation that accurately reflects residents' behavioral health needs, responses, and effectiveness of interventions.
- Partner with providers to manage psychotropic medication use, including supporting gradual dose reduction (GDR) efforts.
- Develop and facilitate memory care support groups for caregivers using internal and external resources.
- Complete re-certification documentation and assist with regulatory and compliance-related paperwork as needed.
- Conduct internal audits and contribute to Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed to support residents, families, or special programming.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure the community at large to understand the value of our enhanced wellness and memory care services and achieve census goals.
- Assist with in-house resident transitions from the IL / AL to the Memory Care unit to more effectively take care of people within the least restrictive environment.
Qualifications : Preferred :
Strong internal motivation and self-initiative to lead program implementation with good judgement, kindness, and creativity while adhering to the program goals and company mission.Experience in a leadership role within memory care or behavioral health settings, with the ability to train and mentor team members in a supportive and educational manner.Strong understanding of dementia-related behaviors and approaches to managing them and documentation practices.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents, families, and team members.Education and Certifications :
High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare, social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.Relevant certifications (e.g., dementia care training, CPR, first aid) preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.Working Conditions :
Primarily on-site within the Memory Care Unit and Assisted Living.Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.Involves periods of standing, walking, and interacting with residents with memory impairments.Participation in interdisciplinary team meetings, family support groups, and quality initiatives.
