We're Hiring : Statistical Assistant!

We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Statistical Engineer to design, implement, and optimize statistical models and data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical skills, programming expertise, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for business decision-making.

Location : New York City, United States

Work Mode : Hybrid

Role : Statistical Engineer

Minimum Candidate Qualifications : Candidates must meet all of the following minimum requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester credit hours in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science
  • Eligibility to work in New York State
  • One of the following experience profiles :

At least three (3) years of experience conducting rate studies in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry and status as a Fellow or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)

  • Passed at least four (4) CAS exams with seven (7) or more years of experience in Property and Casualty actuarial ratemaking
  • Job Responsibilities :

  • Analyze and provide recommendations for the disposition of assigned rate filings
  • Participate in meetings with DFS to discuss all aspects of rate filings
  • Complete and submit required deliverables, including :
  • Client indication spreadsheet

  • Presentation spreadsheet
  • Prepare an Internal Actuarial Memo that includes :
  • Actuarial rate recommendations

  • Description of evaluation process
  • Recommendations to the rate filing preparer
  • Assumptions and methodologies used
  • Evaluation of data reliability
  • Applicable caveats
  • Supporting written and electronic documentation
  • Review insurance company rate filings for accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Check mathematical accuracy of actuarial calculations
  • Maintain in-house databases and systems
  • Assist with research, special projects, and perform other duties as assigned
  • Required Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills; capable of managing multiple time-sensitive projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, WebEx, Zoom)
  • Self-starter with initiative and the ability to handle varied tasks without daily oversight
