Mechanical Engineer
Conceptual design, CAD modeling, and scaled prototyping of novel industrial hardware solutions to modify, enhance, and integrate power equipment in order to unlock the productization of a micro nuclear power plant.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan, design, and execute large industrial capital projects in the power generation sector.
- Mechanical design, authoring technical reports, and generating analysis requirements for components
- Contribute to designing and analyzing tanks, pressure vessels, pumps, heat exchangers and other related components
- Integrating various mechanical systems and components to ensure they work together seamlessly
- Assemble, calibrate, and test hardware prototypes at the bench top scale and oversee these activities for third party contractors at the full scale
- Designing fixtures and tooling to aid in the assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes
- Optimize designs for ease of manufacturing, which includes considering assembly methods, tolerances, and minimizing manufacturing complexities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field4-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical design for innovative product development, R&D, manufacturing, fabrication or related fieldsProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)Adept at solving complex structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics challenges utilizing advanced techniques and softwareProficient in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using relevant software tools including ANSYS, LS-DYNA, Nastran, Radioss, or similarStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of materials selection, stress analysis, and thermal designExcellent communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teamsCreative thinking and a passion for innovation in mechanical designPE not required110,000 - $180,000 a year
