Aterra Designs Lighting Designer

Location : Denton Texas

Aterra provides these services for customers throughout the US in the custom, semi-custom and production building environment. We are seeking a Lighting Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will work one-on-one with clients to design lighting, electrical, and low voltage upgrades off a blueprint before their home is built. Overall, lighting designers are responsible for their project designs, client relationship maintenance, and following Aterras design and project management process. This position will report directly to the Design Manager.

Compensation :

This is an hourly position with a 10% commission on all completed projects

Qualifications :

Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, or Architecture preferred (or a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree)

Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)

Strong knowledge of residential electrical design and drafting standards

Familiar with National Electric Safety Code and electric utility best practices

Comfortable with in-person and virtual client meetings

Proven ability to manage electrical design projects through clear, consistent communication to meet client needs, project deadlines, and budget expectations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience maintaining long-term client relationships

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Sharp attention to detail and organizational skills

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively

Duties and Responsibilities :

Generate and maintain client relationships

Review non-standard options, structural, and all other documents prior to client meetings

Create and develop lighting, electrical, and low voltage designs

Manage project documentation, control, and reporting

Prepare and send final sign-off documentation to homebuyers

Maintain tracking reports for all post-sign off changes and revisions

Plan & Fixture Schedule Creation

Complete any plan updates in AutoCAD per homebuyer revisions

Inventory home design as specified by builder
