Job Description

Exceptional Audit opportunity to work for The Department of Corrections! The Internal Auditing Bureau is recruiting an internal auditor to conduct assurance and advisory audits throughout the Department.

The Internal Auditor IV must be qualified, skilled and experienced, and can work in accordance with the International Internal Audit (IIA) Global Internal Audit Standards.

The Auditor IV will perform the most complex audits in one or more of the following : operations, program, compliance, informational, financial : fiscal data, accounting systems and records, grant compliance, or other department activities.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or closely related field.

Two (2) years of governmental experience.

Two (2) years of internal auditing experience.

Two (2) years of corrections or law enforcement experience.

Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP) and or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Minimum Experience / Knowledge :

Knowledge of :

Evaluating and assessing the management of risk

Assisting management in the improvement of internal controls

Evaluating internal controls and advising management at all levels

Analyzing operations and confirming information

Business English, the application of a variety format, styles, graph charts, editing principles and techniques

Presentation development and presenting

Reporting and record keeping principles

Government operations

Working with other assurance providers

Exercise judgment and make decisions in accordance with established laws, regulations, ordinances, departmental policies and procedures.

Effectively convey ideas and information verbally and in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the audience.

Read and interpret various technical materials, ranging from moderate to complex terminology, associated with job functions.

Learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.

Proficiently use Microsoft Office and Google Suites.

Organize and review work for efficient results and accuracy.

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS) :

  • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7 / 1 / 2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Employees hired on or after 7 / 1 / 2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
  • Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
