Basic Function / Definition
This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the pool of applicants on file to fill temporary assignments as needed. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department or division be interested in scheduling an interview.
Essential Duties
The duties below are representative of the position and not intended to cover all of the duties
performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the
position if the scope of work is similar, related, or a logical assignment. All assignments and work
schedules can include day and evening hours, as assigned by the Director of Student Health &
Psychological Services.
o Provides health information to students, focused on prevention, recognition, and early treatment of illness
o Promotes the well-being of students through prevention and control of communicable
disease.
o Assesses the general health status of students and develops an appropriate plan of care
o Provides confidential health counseling for students with referral to appropriate resources within the college or community as appropriate
o Develops and maintains confidential patient records in accordance with applicable
standards of practice and federal and state laws and regulations
o Establishes standards for and provides, as appropriate, first aid care to students.
o Develops, implements, conducts, and evaluates health education programming for the
college through classroom presentations, bulletins, newsletters, seminars, workshops,
and other activities
o Functions as a professional liaison between Rio Hondo Community College District and other community health services
o Collaborates with other college departments to meet the health needs of the campus
community, including services such as crisis management, immunizations, and educational programs.
o Collaborates with staff of the Student Health Center in the delivery of programs and services; collects and analyzes data for reporting purposes; participates in the Program Review process; assesses Student Learning Outcomes and implements program improvements
o Educates students and staff on the maintenance of physical health and the minimization
of adverse events; may advise faculty and staff on best practices for supporting students
with medical issues
o Attends relevant meetings on campus and in the community; may represent the college
at local and regional meetings related to health services
o Adherences to legal mandates and regulations regarding the provisions of public health
Minimum Qualifications
OR
Bachelor's degree in nursing, a California Public Health Nurse certificate, and a master's degree in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health or community health
(NOTE : Other health services personnel shall not be subject to statewide minimum qualifications; however, all personnel shall possess appropriate valid, current licensure or certification to practice in California when required by law. Ancillary personnel shall work under appropriate supervision when required by their license laws.)

Foreign Degrees
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
