SURGERY SCHEDULER-RIAO

Summary

JOB SUMMARY : Oversees the process of surgery scheduling, including coordinating physician schedules, educating patient on the surgical process and scheduling the surgical case and pre and post-op appointments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Scheduling Surgical cases Coordinates the surgeon and patient schedules to arrive at a optimal time to perform a surgical case.
• Educate patients Consult with patients concerning their expectations, pre-admission process, appointments for ancillary services, and scheduling pre-operative appointments. Explain the surgical process to patients so that they can adequately prepare for surgery.
• Optimize schedule Manage the surgical schedule to reduce unexpected cancelations. Track patient readiness for surgery and manipulate the surgical schedule to optimize the flow of the operating room.
• Code procedures Receive and assess information from physicians or mid-level providers concerning procedures and preliminary diagnosis. Assign the appropriate diagnosis and procedure code prior to scheduling the case.

REQUIREMENTS : Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills. Degree or HS Diploma not required. Experience - Less than one year.
