Status : Full-time, Exempt

Date : July 2024

Primary Areas of Focus

  • Establish CAD Standards& Best Practices
  • Prepare Technical Drawings

Core Responsibilities

  • Utilize CAD tools to facilitate benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation and testing protocols.
  • Establishes deadlines, develops goals and determines production standards for the department.
  • Coordinates with engineers, designers, project managers, department leaders and CAD drafters to ensure stakeholder satisfaction with projects.
  • Evaluates project results to design, develop and implement guidelines and procedures to improve efficiencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all CAD-related activities to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
  • Manage all CAD work for the firm, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timely completion of all design and drafting projects.
  • Recommends potential new uses for CAD within the firm.
  • Uses knowledge of the field to keep the departments software, techniques and tools up to date.
  • Attend project meetings and provide CAD-related input and updates.
  • Implement and oversee upgrades, patches, and new installations of CAD software.
  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing CAD team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CAD technology and techniques.
  • Responsible for completing personal timecards accurately and timely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This position is non-billable. Non-billable activities include company & team meetings, professional development, community involvement, innovation time, culture & engagement activities, learning, and training.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or the equivalent in work related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience ensuring project / department milestones / goals are met adhering to approved budgets.
  • 5 years of prior experience as a CAD drafter, designer or technician as an individual contributor. 1-3 years prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • 5 years of prior experience working within a civil engineering firm required.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team with demonstrated successful team leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success working with multiple stakeholders, managing competing priorities and success completing projects on time and on budget.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • The position may require a visit to project sites occasionally.
  • The position requires a normal range of hearing.
  • The employee must be able to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires prolonged sitting with 15% of the time spent bending and reaching.
  • Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Noise levels are consistent with a standard office environment.
