Surgical Physician Assistant

As a Surgical Physician Assistant with SpecialtyCare you will act as a First Assistant to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures and perform complex surgical techniques as needed and directed by the physician. In this role you will work in various surgical specialties.

Job Responsibilities

• Acts as First Assistant or Second Assistant to surgeon during surgical procedures i.e., holds retractors, ties off vessels and tissues, repairs incisions and lacerations, cuts and cauterizes tissues, etc., as needed and as directed for wide variety of surgical cases i.e., orthopedic, general surgery, vascular, OB / GYN, etc. Performs complex surgical techniques as needed and as directed by physician.
• All other specific tasks delegated by supervising physician in accordance to the incumbent’s knowledge and experience developed under the supervising physician
• Documents all procedures and / or services to patients on face sheets and processes face sheets in accordance with established procedures to ensure accurate billing to patient accounts
• Shares on-call responsibilities with the rest of the team as directed by team leader
• Performs all activities in accordance with established policies and protocols i.e., all orders supervised and countersigned by physician, etc.
