Certified Medical Assistant

Responsibilities : Assist providers by putting patients in rooms, interviewing patients, recording vital signs, and entering information into the electronic medical record. Maintain exam rooms by ensuring they are organized, clean, and stocked with required supplies and equipment. Perform select clinical tests such as blood glucose, rapid HIV testing, influenza, and strep cultures, and manage and operate equipment safely. Correctly label specimens and administer medications according to provider orders, excluding intravenous therapy. Provide pre and post-procedural care, participate in the Time Out, and offer intra-procedural support. Follow standard precautions for infection control, applying medical and surgical aseptic techniques when indicated. Make follow-up calls as requested by the provider and direct calls requiring assessment to a provider.

Qualifications : Valid CMA license in the state of Iowa. 1-3 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
