Title : Financial Controller
Compensation : $130k - $160k + 10% annual bonus + 401k plan + 100% employer paid health premiums for family
Financial Controller
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accurate and compliant reporting. This role manages budgeting, internal controls, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. The Controller also leads finance and accounting teams, supervises audits, and coordinates with external stakeholders including auditors and tax advisors.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement controls to minimize risk.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee the production of periodic financial reports in compliance with GAAP.
- Recommend benchmarks to measure performance.
- Provide financial analysis with emphasis on pricing decisions and labor rate management.
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax preparers to support audits and regulatory reporting.
- Evaluate and implement accounting systems and software that support project management and financial reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset software and depreciation schedules.
- Perform credit checks on potential customers and vendors.
- Assist with annual insurance renewals.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
Strong management and supervisory capabilities.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Deep knowledge of financial reporting and regulatory requirements.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint Vista, Procore).Familiarity with insurance, bonding, and lien laws relevant to construction operations.Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (CPA preferred).7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance, including supervisory roles.Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion, WIP schedules, and job cost reporting.CPA or CMA designation preferred.Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.Capable of filing and light physical activity in an office setting.Comfortable working in a dynamic office environment with occasional construction-related noise.Pay Details : $130,000.00 to $160,000.00 per year
