We're seeking a Controls Engineer to join our oil and gas team. You'll be responsible for the design, development, programming, and maintenance of control systems, with a strong focus on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement control systems for new and existing projects, including hardware selection, system architecture, and wiring diagrams.
- Develop, program, and debug PLC logic using languages such as Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, and Structured Text.
- Configure and program Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to provide operators with a clear view of process conditions.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades on existing control systems to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including process engineers, operators, and project managers, to ensure the control system meets all operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., IEC 61508, ISA-84).
- Provide technical support and training to field technicians and operations staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, preferably in the oil and gas industry.Proven expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric).Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherNet / IP, Profibus).Experience with SCADA / HMI development (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk View).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) like DeltaV or Honeywell.Knowledge of functional safety standards and experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
