The Gastroenterology Physician position involves providing medical coverage at three locations, including a hospital and an outpatient center, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Responsibilities include managing inpatient and outpatient cases, performing endoscopies, and handling consultations, with a call schedule of 1 : 3 every third week. Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible and possess an active PA license, with the ability to perform various endoscopic procedures.

Coverage Needed

  • June - Ongoing

Candidates who can work longer blocks of dates (14 days or longer is preferred) - Highly preferred

  • Will be required at 3 locations total all close to one another. The hospital, the current outpatient center and starting in June / July there will be a new endoscopy center
  • Critical Dates : June 14 (5p) - June 21 (5p), July 8 - July 19 (call July 12 (5p) - July 19 (5p

    • Schedule

  • M-F 8A-5P

    • Clinical Details

  • Inpatient : average of 12-15 per day; Outpatient : average 8-10 in a half day or roughly 15 in a full day. New patients usually are 1 hour visits; established patients take 30 minutes typically
  • June, July, and August : Locums will have up to 10 scopes per day Inpatient. Additionally, IP / ER consults with add on scopes.

    • Requirements

  • Board Certified or truly Board Eligible

    • Board Eligible within 2 years of residency

  • Active PA License
  • Must be 100% comfortable with scoping (endoscopy / Colonoscopy all scopes are done in hospital)

    • Call

  • 1 : 3 Every 3rd week and will include weekend; runs from Friday 5P to Friday 5P; call is shared with 2 other GI groups in the community

    • Support Staff

  • 2 physicians, 2 PA s and 1 NP, 5 LPN / MA s, 1 Registrar, 1 RN Coordinator; the APPs cover the outpatient clinic mostly

    • EMR
