PARC offers assistance to families who have adopted children or who are providing guardianships through the State of Michigans Guardianship Assistance Program. The goal of the program is to provide information and resources to families whose adoptions / guardianships have been finalized. PARC provides time limited adoption sensitive case management and crisis intervention services accessible telephone support for adoptive / guardian families looking for supportive services information and referrals to appropriate community services support groups for adoptive / guardian families and children and educational seminars and conferences for adoptive / guardianship families.
Job Summary :
The PARC Family Worker coordinates the strength-based solution-focused assessment of adoptive families. The Family Worker also serves as a liaison for the family regarding identifying and accessing community resources and other service providers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Provides referred families with a description of the range of available services available through the Post Adoption Resource Center.Develop a family-centered plan and a termination reportProvide emergency interventions for families in crisis or at risk of disruption.Refer adoptive families to community resources.Maintain regular contact with referred families including at bi-weekly in-person contact.Develop closure plans to address any additional unmet needs of the family.Provide one to one assistance for families requesting or in need of applying for or negotiating educational services.Initiate information and referral services to all familiesProvide families with literature and materials in response to their request.Participates in required trainings.Attend all scheduled team meetings.Perform other duties as assigned.Job Qualifications :
Prior experience working with adoptive parents and the adoption process preferred.Experience providing in-home services and / or working directly with children and their families in various settings including child welfare schools juvenile justice and mental health preferred.Understanding of basic needs social cultural and religious differences in families required.Provide services in 13 counties (Barry Branch Calhoun Eaton Hillsdale Ingham Jackson Lenawee Livingston Kalamazoo Monroe St. Joseph and Washtenaw)Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristicsEducation Certificates Licenses Registrations :
A bachelors degree in the field of human services.Valid Michigan Drivers License appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.Working Conditions :
Remote position working from home office with required weekly supervision and meetings in Ann Arbor and visits to familys homes.Works in an office environment and in the community.Possible stressful environment working with families and court system.Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend visitation events and trainings etc.Fast paced enthusiastic and team oriented workplace.No phone calls please.
