Position Summary :
The Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) position is responsible for providing animal nursing care within the Small Animal Emergency Critical Care unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This position is skilled in all facets of veterinary animal care regarding patient assessment, emergency triage procedures, surgery preparation and patient case management. This position involves handling patients in life threatening situations where the following duties involved in triage of accident patients includes : CPR, Collection of blood, urine by expression, cystocentesis or catheterization, Administration and application of anesthesia, drugs, fluids, medications and immunological agents by oral, parenteral and injectable routes and utilization of computer systems to enter and maintain medical record keeping. The LVT will need to professionally communicate with Veterinarians, students and fellow technicians concerning the affected workflow, time limitations and patient status and will maintain a positive attitude and calm demeanor throughout stressful situations.
