JOB SUMMARY : Under the supervision of the Cardiovascular Services Director responsible for the coordination, assessment, and planning for patient care management during a cardiac catheterization, vascular or EP procedure; the performance of invasive vascular and cardiac interventional and diagnostic procedures; the proper operation of the equipment within the department, as well as the image processing and qualify improvement activities. May rotate charge in the Cath Lab, which assumes responsibility for the coordination of the daily schedule including staff assignment.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Associates Nursing degree or successful completion of an approved program resulting in Radiologic Technology certification One year Cardiac Cath Lab or Special Procedure / Critical Care nursing experience preferred

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and / or REGISTRATION : Licensed as a Registered Nurse in NC North Carolina Board of Nursing or licensed as a Registered Radiology Technologist. ACLS American Heart Association. CPR / BLS American Heart Association

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1. Facilitates patient age specific education, as evidenced by verbalization of patient understanding of pre and post procedure instructions, daily observation of patient instructions, and appropriate documentation of teaching in the patient record.

2. Demonstrates competency in all areas of EP or Cardiac procedures including the performance of all invasive cardiac or pacemaker procedures per lab protocols as evidenced by completion of annual competencies and no more than (2) reported patient safety issues or events.

3. Appropriately responds to Code 4 and properly assesses and initiates treatment for cardiac pain.

4. Appropriately documents case procedures including equipment, patient status, medications, complications and nurses notes as evidenced by no more than (4) errors or omissions per year on random audit.

5. Administers and ensures appropriate documentation of medications during procedures as evidenced by no more than (2) documented occurrences per year or from a random audit.

6. Adheres to personal radiation protection and safety measures as evidence by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and film badge readings during every procedure.

7. Demonstrates the appropriate use of radiological and physiologic recording equipment as not to create delays in procedures or excessive reported repairs.

8. Completes a minimum of (12) hours of continuing education programs (100% completion of mandatory programs).

9. Displays a high level of customer relations as evidenced by no more than (2) reported incidents of negative interactions, including telephone, or personal or written complaint. 1

0. Keeps the supervisor and / or assigned charge personnel informed of pertinent patient care / procedural or equipment related issues and completes written documentation and or event reports as required.

11. Assists with and directs the orientation and education of new personnel / students and support staff in the department by serving as a resource person to new staff.

12. Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules. Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior.

13. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Pay Range

34.90 - $52.35
