The Patient Transport Equipment Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing patient safety and optimizing patient flow within the DUHS Medical campus. Collaborating with general patient transport duties, this position is responsible for various tasks related to the management of patient care equipment and supplies used throughout the facility by patient transport services, specifically internal to DUH, not outside the facility.
Duties and responsibilities of this level include overseeing the receipt, delivery, and pick-up of patient transport equipment and supplies throughout the facility; ensuring the availability of necessary equipment; performing thorough cleaning and sterilization of patient transport equipment; maintaining a clean and organized storage area for equipment; conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance; identifying and addressing equipment malfunctions promptly; delivering patient transport equipment; retrieving equipment; maintaining accurate records; documenting cleaning and sterilization; collaborating with staff; communicating effectively; providing training; offering support; participating in quality improvement initiatives; and identifying opportunities for enhancing efficiency and safety.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, additional technical or vocational training, one year of patient transport experience within DUHS, proficiency in MS Office, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, basic computer knowledge of Windows operating environment, and the ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include positive working relations, adherence to dress code and hygiene, confidentiality of patient information, respect for patient privacy, flexibility, and willingness to help other team members.
Working conditions require extensive standing and walking for long periods of time, frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of equipment up to 100 lbs, and exposure to common cleaning chemicals on a daily basis.
