Complexity of Work : Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a high volume, complex environment and take next best steps as applicable. Reviews patients requisition, indication(s), and understands the type of exam required. Must have the discernment to discuss with medical staff and / or MFM physician(s) regarding clarification when necessary. Requires understanding of fetal anatomy (1st, 2nd, and 3rd), abnormalities and take an investigative approach to MFM ultrasounds. Must have basic understanding and be able to perform of Dopplers (umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, and ductus venosus); and know indications of each. Must be able to evaluate multiple gestations, chronicity and amnionicity. Must be able to perform diagnostic transvaginal ultrasound. Ideally, experience with performing and interpreting 3D imaging. Must be able to perform guidance and assistance in diagnostic procedures such as chorionic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis, and percutaneous umbilical blood sampling (PUBS). Must have an interest in continued medical education and actively stay up to date on ultrasound techniques. Must be able to travel between the different clinic sites (reliable transportation).
