What You'll Do

As a Special Procedures Radiologic Technologist, you will operate advanced radiologic and cardiovascular imaging equipment to provide quality diagnostic and interventional images for physicians and radiologists. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, following accepted protocols and ensuring patient safety while supporting exceptional care.

Radiologic Technologist Job Responsibilities

Equipment Operation & Physiological Monitoring

Operate and troubleshoot Philips X-Ray equipment, Archive Manager, Med-Rad injector, and Vercis workstation.

Demonstrate knowledge of ultrasound, Rotablator, Angiojet, Pressure Wire, and related Cath Lab equipment.

Accurately document cardiovascular procedures and patient assessments.

Interpret and document basic cardiac dysrhythmias.

Perform physiologic recordings for LHC, R&LHC, Swan insertions, pacemakers, EP studies, and PTCA procedures.

Obtain accurate patient information, labs, histories, and consents.

Respond effectively in emergent situations.

Quality Assurance, Education & Training

Perform daily checks of image transfer to digital storage and troubleshoot errors.

Maintain radiation protection equipment and personnel film badges.

Maintain ACLS and BLS certifications and Cath Lab-specific skills.

Participate in continuing education and maintain cardiovascular certifications (CCT, RCIS).

Assist with training and mentoring new staff members.

Patient Preparation

Prepare and drape patients for cardiovascular procedures using aseptic technique.

Set up monitoring systems, SAT monitors, and NIBP systems.

Provide patient education regarding cardiovascular procedures.

Assist with inventory management and room turnover.

Accurately document case details in patient records.

Scrub Role

Maintain sterile technique during all cardiovascular procedures.

Perform surgical scrubs and tray preparation for procedures such as LHC, R&LHC, Swan-Ganz, A-line, pacemakers, PTCA, and EP cases.

Safely handle catheters, wires, and sheaths, ensuring proper aspiration and flushing.

Administer contrast injections appropriately.

Assist with placement and removal of A-lines and venous sheaths.

Organizational Responsibilities

Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings.

Complete mandatory education, competencies, and health requirements on time.

Follow infection control and safety protocols.

Maintain licensure, certification, and registration in good standing.

Participate in call rotation and be available within 30 minutes when on call.

What You Bring

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning, aseptic technique, and interventional procedures.

Familiarity with catheters, interventional items, and contrast media.

Ability to operate standard radiographic and special procedure equipment.

Knowledge of radiology computer systems.

Working Conditions

Hospital-based, direct patient care environment.

Participation in department call rotation required.

Physical Demands

Ability to walk / stand for prolonged periods.

Push carts / wheelchairs up to 50 lbs.

Safely position / lift patients (max 35 lbs unassisted; over 35 lbs requires assistance).

Perform CPR and maintain strength / balance to ensure patient safety

Required Qualifications

Associate degree or professional training in Radiology.

ARRT certification and ISBH General Certification required.

Interventional Registry required.

1-2 years of experience as a Special Procedures Radiographer preferred; 2-5 years as a Staff Radiographer strongly desired.
