Overview
ENERCON’s Advanced Nuclear Division is seeking a System Design Engineer to support the design and development of new nuclear facilities. This role is integral to our engineering team, working closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers to drive the technical execution of advanced and small modular reactor (SMR) technology development, plant siting, and licensing. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a strong background in engineering and a passion for innovation in nuclear technologies.

Responsibilities

Technical Expertise : Serve as the technical lead for assigned systems within nuclear facility design projectsSystem Design Documentation : Develop and maintain system design documentation including System Requirements Documents (SRDs), System Design Descriptions (SDDs), system-level drawings and schematics, system sizing and performance calculations, equipment design specifications, and procurement packagesMultidisciplinary Team Collaboration : Ensure system designs meet project requirements, regulatory standards, and client expectations. Support design reviews, hazard analyses, and technical evaluationsClient Relationship Management : Interface with vendors and subcontractors to ensure technical compliance and quality. Provide technical input during project planning, scheduling, and budgeting phasesEngineering Leadership & Guidance : Mentor design group engineers in new system design processesQualifications
Bachelor's Degree -OR- industry recognized certification and 8 years' applicable experience6+ years of experience in system design or modifications, preferably within the nuclear industryStrong understanding of engineering principles, codes, and standards applicable to nuclear facility designAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, writing, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and teamsWorking knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to gain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear sitesAbility to travel between 15-25% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few days to a few weeksCitizenship or permanent residency requiredAdditional Information
