Summary
ICO Group of Companies is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead the accounting and finance functions for our diverse portfolio of real estate and corporate entities. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in real estate accounting, construction finance, and multi-entity operations. The Controller will play a key role in financial planning, compliance, reporting, and team leadership, contributing directly to the company’s short- and long-term goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including residential, commercial, retail, industrial, and construction
- Prior leadership experience as a Controller in a multi-entity real estate environment
- Experience in public accounting or managing multiple clients highly desirable
- Advanced proficiency in Yardi, Excel, and Outlook is required
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience in a family office or entrepreneurial setting preferred
Key Responsibilities
Oversee AP / AR, bank reconciliations, complex journal entries, capital contributions / distributions, equity schedules, and income / loss allocationsManage daily banking activities and cash flowLead monthly and annual financial statement preparation and closing processesCollaborate with executive leadership to develop strategic financial plans and address financial risksDirect accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsEnsure GAAP compliance and manage deliverables to banks, CPAs, and other stakeholdersOversee construction accounting and CAM reconciliationsPrepare year-end financials for tax filings and review annual budgets for all entitiesManage loan payments, loan compliance, and insurance claims trackingReview and negotiate insurance policies and renewalsTrack LP and LLC compliance and manage workers comp accruals and reconciliationsReconcile reserve accounts, intercompany loans, and balance sheetsTrack bad debt, send to collections, and ensure proper tax write-offsEnsure drawdowns on reserves and holdbacks for commercial and residential propertiesHire, train, and mentor accounting team membersConduct performance reviews and assess team skill sets and workload distributionManage third-party payroll, benefits, and 401(k) administratorsProvide strategic recommendations to improve efficiency and reportingSupport other departments with financial insights and reportingLead and guide third-party accounting teams handling AP / AROther tasks assigned by management / supervisorRequired Skills
