What to Expect

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Structural Design team within the Battery Engineering organization in Palo Alto, CA. This role focuses on enhancing designs for current Tesla vehicles and defining structural designs for future models. Collaboration with factory-based colleagues and cross-functional teams will be essential to integrate vehicle and powertrain engineering, develop innovative processes, and advance safety and reliability standards in electric vehicles.

What You'll Do

• Improve designs for existing vehicles and define structural designs for future Tesla models
• Seamlessly integrate vehicle and battery cell systems to optimize performance
• Partner with manufacturing engineering teams to develop new processes and materials
• Serve as the local design authority for line launches, design changes, trials, and root-cause analysis
• Conduct on-site component and system-level testing to support design and specification updates
• Collaborate with manufacturing, process, and quality teams to address yield barriers and scrap issues
• Own product improvements focused on cost reduction and complexity simplification

Expected Compensation $92,720 - $206,520 / annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
