About This Role

Responsible for the creation and update of admissions, registration, and student records for prospective and current Palm Beach State students in a timely manner. Assists with maintaining College compliance with determining Florida residency per state statute. Reviews and processes transcripts, forms, and enrollment data; provides expertise and trains within the department. The position requires the ability to work a fluctuating schedule, including nights and weekends.

What a Day of an Admissions Specialist Looks Like

Coordinates and conducts student admissions, registration, and pre-registration processes, and assists with bulk student registration. This includes document verification, processing corresponding registration materials, and preparation for registration process.

Prepares and reviews documents for completeness and accuracy. Processes and logs documents into system.

Answers, screens, researches, informs, advises, records, processes, and follows-up all customer requests efficiently and expeditiously as received by telephone, mail, or personally.

Acquires knowledge of other staff duties and serves as a backup as necessary.

Responds to requests from parents and students regarding program, transfers, complaints, and discipline. May conduct workshops with parents regarding College or program information requirements.

Provides consultation and assistance regarding specific matters within area of expertise.

Coordinates the preparation, administration, and issuance of transcripts, following the policies regarding the preparation, transfer, and release of transcripts.

Assists students and personnel with operating office equipment such as personal computers, printers, and copying machines, as well as software programs, providing training when necessary.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the position
  • One year of related experience

Knowledge of :

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) within 30 days of employment
  • Skilled in :

  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
  • Ability to :

  • Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
  • Research information for problem solving

    The minimum base pay for this position starts at $17.47 hourly; however, the offer may vary based on the candidates education and experience.
