Responsibilities : Provide accurate information, direct coaching support and indirect assistance to people for their development of understanding and interaction with complex public benefits / entitlements systems (Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, food assistance programs, housing assistance programs…). The Benefit to Work Coach assists people to make self-determined choices concerning desired employment outcomes by assuring accurate awareness of potential changes, requirements and expectations (reporting) of public benefit / entitlement systems when people gain, loss or experience changes with employment income. The Benefit to Work Coach supports people receiving assistance from many departments across the CMHA-CEI organization. The right candidate will have a desire to support people to author their employment goals through self-determination and person centered planning practices. Candidates will build and maintain professional relationships with CMHA-CEI treatment teams, CMHA-CEI programs, community partners (Social Security Administration, Department of Health and Humans Services, Benefit to Work Coaching team) and persons receiving CMHA-CEI supports and services. Candidates should have strong organizational skills, be detail orientated, able to provide detailed reports, complete analysis / interpret reports and respond quickly to changing needs of the person and systems.
Requirements : Possession of a high school diploma of GED equivalency required. Obtain and retain Benefit to Work Coaching Micro-Certification within 3 months of employment. Minimum of one year experience providing paraprofessional assist and / or skills training to individuals with an intellectual and / or developmental disability, serious and persistent mental illness and / or substance use disorder. Ability to communicate effectively and accurately both written and verbally required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required. Applicant must be able to manage having a flexible schedule designed to meet the needs of individuals in service and the department. Applicant should expect to adjust work schedule to accommodate intermittent evenings and weekends.
Conditional Employment Requirements : Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police Clearance check and verification of an acceptable driving record. Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment physical exam. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Salary / Hours : $19.85 per hour. 0-19 hours per week, hours are NOT guaranteed. Schedule will be variable days / times based on need of the person supported. Availability for scheduled as well as on-call shifts will be needed. Monday to Sunday between 8am and 6pm for scheduled (exceptions will be made on a case on case basis).
