Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, will be responsible for inspecting any variety of public works projects, to include roadway, utility and sidewalks to assure compliance with City regulations and with the prescribed plans and specifications. Responsible for reviewing work performed by Engineering Inspectors.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation :
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates and monitors construction projects to include road construction, sidewalk construction, drainage structures, water, and sewer and reuse facilities as well as review change orders and pay requests made by contractors.
- Interprets construction plans, specifications and contract documents.
- Coordinates and monitors construction for in-house projects
- Keeps written record of work completed by contractor and any problems encountered.
- Hand deliver notices, answer questions and alleviate concerns of the general public.
- Works with General Contractor coordinating water tie-ins, shut downs, pressure testing, HRS testing.
- Back up for locates on an "as needed" basis.
- Inspects private jobs such as new developments to ensure the good health and wellbeing of the neighborhood.
- May require to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assigned tasks.
- This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace
- Performs other duties as assigned.
