job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPurchases of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from industrial accounts Negotiating with suppliers on price, payment and shipment terms and contracts to optimize cost effectiveness. Follow-up and shipment expedites with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery. Vetting, and interacting with new potential sources of consumers of scrap metal. Buys from retail, dealer, light industrial customers, repair shops, demolition projects, clean-ups, etc. Participating in a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, direct mail, email & networking. Maintaining frequent communications with suppliers for updated lead-time and inventory info for proper planning. Keeping accurate records of relevant activities. Internal and external customer service relating to ferrous or non-ferrous business. Developing the growth of business activities and profit with assigned accounts. Providing solutions to companies to improve and maximize scrap recovery. Meeting or exceeding buying / sourcing quotas. Exercising a working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality, delivery and quantity requirements. Processing requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly with vendors and manufacturers. Maximizing all opportunities in the process of closing a deal, resulting in the taking of market share from competitors Must have working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. Bilingual Spanish / English is preferred Must have strong sales skills and strive to develop long-term customer relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, telephone etiquette and computer knowledge. Maintain knowledge of market factors that scrap metal price movements. Must be able to negotiate prices, service and terms with both customers and carriers. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Must display strong motivation and resourcefulness; be self-motivated. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Willing to work varying hours and travel up to 50% of the time. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
