Position Summary :

Performs non-technical procedures in support of the testing process from initial set up of supplies to disposal of waste.

Essential Job Duties :

• Manages storage of serum, whole blood, plasma, saliva and urine samples.
• Handles proper disposal of radioactive and biohazard waste.
• Performs sample management tasks such as volumization, labeling, storage, moving storage boxes and preparation for disposal.
• Assists in locating missing samples and pulling specimens from storage locations.
• Properly discarding patient samples.
• Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
• Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job related duties requested by department management.

Required Education / Degree :

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Certification / License :

None

Required Work Experience :

Entry level. Training will be provided.

Physical Demands :

Requires utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one’s feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling. and organizing sample storage boxes in walk-in freezers. Requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Working Conditions :

There is regular exposure to potential blood-borne pathogens and radiation and walk-in freezers.
