SUMMARY :
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects. Based in either Chicago, IL (targeting candidates with 10+ years of experience) or Austin, TX (open to mid-level engineers with 5+ years), this full-time, permanent role supports all phases of project development—from design and pre-construction through turnover to operations. Responsibilities include power system modeling, BOP equipment specification, grid code compliance, and coordinating with both internal stakeholders and external consultants. This position offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to contribute to innovative renewable energy solutions.
JOB FUNCTION :
- Design of balance of plant packages during development
- Engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations
- Grid code compliance and interconnection requirements.
- Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment
- Power system modeling and studies
- Coordinating project engineering topics during construction
- Management of 3rd party engineering consultants
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts during the project lifecycle
- Ensure that the highest level of health, safety, and environmental protection is incorporated into designs and standards
- Support the development of electrical engineering standards
- Support the development of engineering processes and procedures
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION :
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering programAdvanced degrees can reduce technical experience requirementsA minimum of 5 years of professional experience (post undergraduate) in electrical engineeringSpecific areas of experience and competency include transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection and control.Experience in renewable generation (wind turbine, solar PV, and BESS storage) project design is preferred.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationshipsDemonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables spaceExcellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and TeamsStrong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlinesStrong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverablesAbility to multitask while working independently and as part of a teamMotivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilitiesProven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgroundsResponds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachableMust be detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business conceptsBy completing an application, you give us permission to send you text messages regarding this position and future opportunities.
