Requirements

To qualify for this pivotal role, candidates must possess a minimum of 8 years of documented experience within the occupational therapy field. This experience should encompass clinical practice as an occupational therapist, as well as administrative prowess in areas such as program planning, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting. Moreover, candidates must demonstrate a nuanced understanding of and substantial experience with occupational therapy assistants. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level is essential.

In terms of academic qualifications, it is preferred that the Program Director will hold a doctoral degree from an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education (USDE) OR actively pursuing a doctoral degree or willing to pursue. Importantly, this doctoral degree is not confined to occupational therapy but encompasses a broader spectrum of disciplines, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of our programs. A Master’s Degree is required.

The Program Director must possess active licensure in the State of Michigan, showcasing compliance with regulatory standards set forth by Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Additionally, current certification with NBCOT further underscores the Director's commitment to upholding professional standards and best practices within the field.
