Job Summary
As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess patients and develop personalized treatment plans based on comprehensive evaluations. You will conduct tests and measure various skills to help maximize each patient's level of independence in daily activities. This role involves delivering direct patient care, documenting findings and progress, and guiding patients and caregivers through their care journey. You may also collaborate with other occupational therapists in program development and provide training to students and interns. Additionally, you will supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians in providing quality patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.
Licenses / Certifications :
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
This role requires the ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds occasionally, carry up to 30 pounds frequently, and engage in prolonged standing, walking, stooping, and squatting. Fine hand dexterity and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, alongside the ability to monitor various tools and equipment.Principal Accountabilities
Take responsibility for patient care by performing comprehensive evaluations and accurately interpreting findings to create detailed care plans.Implement and deliver effective occupational therapy treatments, demonstrating proficiency in essential therapy skills and providing supervision to assistants and technicians.Regularly assess patient progress and adjust goals and treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, caregivers, colleagues, and external parties such as physicians and insurance representatives.Present relevant professional literature during meetings and conferences as requested.Manage your time efficiently to promote effective service delivery.Ensure proper documentation in medical records and adhere to all departmental rules and regulations.Serve as a Clinical Instructor for OT or OTA interns and support their learning experience.Ensure safety in care delivery, following all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and quality standards.Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge, supporting team goals and mentoring less experienced staff.Demonstrate a commitment to compassionate care and exceptional service for all community members.Perform other duties as assigned.
