Job Summary

The Work-Study Student will support the Financial Aid Office and the United Way of Coastal Empire's 211 Program as a Call Center Specialist in the Savannah area beginning Fall 2025.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

  • Use active listening and interviewing skills while speaking with callers in order to uncover needs
  • Work independently as a resource to callers and also collaboratively as a member of the 211 call-center team
  • Demonstrate empathy in serving people in need while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Maintain sensitivity and professionalism while speaking with people from a variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Use problem solving skills to help callers prioritize needs and find appropriate referrals
  • Match callers to available resources
  • Maintain accurate and complete call records for each call received and record direct assistance within the I&R database(s) and software platform(s)
  • Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in effectively using call center database software, computer hardware, and telephone equipment.

Shift Specifics

  • Up to 12 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Required Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
  • Other Required Qualifications

  • Must be Federal Work eligible.
  • Proposed Salary

    15.00 per hour
