We are currently seeking a Network Smart Hands Technician to join our team in Yonkers, New York (US-NY), United States (US).
The Networking Smart Hands Technician provides on-site technical support for network infrastructure, hardware installations, and data center operations through remote NOC. This role is hands-on, requiring physical tasks such as equipment installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and site-to-site travel throughout New York City and Westchester. Technicians serve as the on-site extension of the remote NOC and engineering teams, ensuring smooth operations, rapid response to issues, and accurate documentation.
This role requires working onsite daily at our client's facility and requires employee to be fully vaccinated on or before start date, to the extent required by applicable law.
We support this client 24 / 7, so this role could include evenings or weekends.
Responsibilities :
- Provide Smart Hands support for network / server hardware (rack / stack, cabling, hardware swaps)
- Troubleshoot and resolve physical connectivity issues, including cable tracing, module / port replacements, and resets
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, hardware upgrades, and emergency repairs
- Power cycling, console access setup, and module disk / power replacements as directed by remote teams
- Document work performed, maintain service logs, and update appropriate systems
- Respond to ticketing system, update tickets to track information and maintain SLAs
- Support inventory management, shipping / receiving, and site readiness tasks
- Respond to emergency situations and participate in rotating on-call schedules
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to operational procedures and change management policies
Basic Qualifications :
1+ years of hands-on IT / network support or server infrastructure experience or relevant experienceAbility to lift 50 lbsPersonal vehicle for travel between sitesAdditional Requirements :
High school diploma or trade school training or relevant experienceStrong understanding of networking (OSI Layers 2 & 3), cabling, and data center operationsFamiliarity with routers, switches, firewalls, UPS systems, and electrical / cooling infrastructureExperience with Visio, testing tools, and interpreting floor plansStrong written and verbal communication skillsAble to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasksReliable transportation and a clean, insurable driving recordFully vaccinated for COVID-19 and flu (as required for hospital access)Availability for on-call rotationShould have basic knowledge of networks and networking devicesShould know how to console to the devicesShould know about resetting the cables, rebooting the devices etcAbility to work effectively with minimal supervisionTechnical experience, technical aptitudeNet+ CertificationStrong time-management and organizational skillsAbility to multi-taskDetail orientedMust be flexible to work shift / weekend scheduleWhere required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this role is $60,000-$75,000. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
