Highway Engineering Intern

Dewberry is currently seeking a Highway Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 to join our Bloomfield, NJ office in our Highway Engineering Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to be part of a project team and be part of the design of roadways systems following AASHTO, State and municipal design standards.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include design and preparation of contract documents for roadway improvement projects for various clients including the NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, counties, and various other public and private sector clients.

Required Skills & Required Experience

Pursuing BS in Civil Engineering required.

Prior engineering internship or summer work experience preferred.

Familiarity with NJDOT and NJTA design standards and practices preferred.

Familiarity with AASHTO and MUTCD preferred.

Proficiency in MS Office software, AutoCAD and / or Microstation.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in team environment.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
